Upgrade Your Summer Soundtrack with the Hi-Fi Sound of KEF Speakers
Save on the KEF Q Series for a Limited Time
If you are a Hi-Fi enthusiast, you may already be familiar with KEF. If you’re not, it’s not a brand you will typically find at your local big-box store. Founded in 1961 and headquartered in England, the company has always strived to produce speaker designs based on research and innovation. The name KEF says it all – it stands for Kent Engineering and Foundry.
Throughout the decades, KEF has been noted for pioneering innovations. Among those is the Uni-Q driver array, where the midrange and tweeter drivers are arranged concentrically for improved off-axis dispersion of sound, resulting in a wider and more natural soundstage. This design innovation has been widely adopted by other respected speaker manufacturers, but KEF has continued refining it with every speaker generation across all its lines.
While award-winning KEF speakers like the Muon and Blade cost tens of thousands, you don’t have to spend that much to have KEF sound quality in your St. Louis, MO home audio system. KEF’s most popular line, the Q Series, is on sale for a limited time this summer. Read on to learn more about the Q Series – but hurry, this sale ends on August 1!

Design
Have you heard of trickle-down economics? Regardless of your opinion on the efficacy of trickle-down in economics, the effect is real when it comes to speaker design. KEF's acoustic and material innovations utilized in its lauded Blade and Reference lines show up in the Q Series speakers. It starts with the tried-and-true Uni-Q driver array, which places the tweeter in the center of the mid-range and bass cone. Using a "tangerine" waveguide, Uni-Q times the arrival of sound to your ears more coherently and dispenses sound evenly around the room, so the sound feels natural even when not in the stereo "sweet spot."
What about bass? Low-end bass performance is critical to achieving a full, rich hi-fi sound. The Q Series does not disappoint in that department, with larger roll surrounds and new suspension drivers augmented by passive radiators to bring bass impact to music and movie soundtracks. The Uni-Q drivers live in their own sealed compartment within the speakers to improve clarity, detail, and bass performance, allowing for a cleaner crossover design with excellent coherence between drivers.
A Full Speaker Line
The Q Series is a complete speaker line equally adept at stereo hi-fi or surround sound applications. There are three 2.5-way tower models, two 2-way bookshelves, two 2.5-way center-channel speakers, and three Kube subwoofers to mix and match the ideal system for your room. In addition, the Q50a Dolby Atmos module can sit atop a tower or bookshelf to provide the three-dimensional, enveloping sound effects from Dolby Atmos and DTS:X movie and show soundtracks.
